Doctor Who Party

Today is a very very cold Martin Luther King Jr Day. No school but no way I'm leaving the house in this weather. So Gavin and I decided that it is a perfect Netflix day. And our absolute favorite thing to watch on Netflix is Doctor Who! Gavin has been going through the Classic Doctor Who episodes on his own, but whenever we have time to watch together, we watch the modern version. Well, both of us almost started crying today when we saw something new under the show description... Available until: 2/1/2016. WHAT? We only have access until the end of the month!

After I managed to pick my jaw up off the floor and wipe away the tears I got on the phone to Netflix and requested them to keep the show. Did you know that you can do that? It doesn't mean that it will work, but if they get enough requests for certain shows they try to keep or add them. So, if you are a fan of Doctor Who like we are, call Netflix and ask them to keep it!

In honor of our Doctor Who marathon and our hopeful positive energy that the show will stay on Netflix, I am featuring the Premiere Party we threw for the start of the 9th season. For now I will just show all of the highlights of our party, but I will be sharing the recipes for our delicious dinner sometime soon, so stay tuned!

Our main course was a Lady Cassandra Lasagna. It was so so delicious and looked almost too much like the last human alive!

Served alongside Cassandra were scrumptious Ood Rolls. They were somewhat of a process to make, but they were so so yummy and definitely resembled their namesake!

To wash down all of the tastiness, we had a big pitcher of Sonic Screwdriver to drink. It was non-alcoholic, but that could easily be changed with a splash of vodka :)

For dessert we took a page from the doctor himself and had fish fingers with custard. As appetizing as ACTUAL fish sticks might be, we played it safe and made some amazing cookies that look just like what the doctor ate!

We kept the decor fairly simple, just setting out Gavin's TARDIS bookshelf, all of his Doctor Who action figures, and propping up a giant framed Doctor Who poster!

Last but not least were the costumes! I was Clara, Gavin was the eleventh doctor, Paul was the tenth doctor and my nephew Christian dressed up as Rose! Do you think we pulled it off?

It was such a fun party and it definitely boosted up our anticipation for the Season 9 Premiere!

Reminder :) If you are a Doctor Who fan like us, you need to call Netflix at 866-579-7172 to tell them they should keep the show available to stream!

Thanks!

  3. I am so in love with this party! We are HUGE Dr. Who fans. Our son just got his hair cut to look like Matt Smith and we all think bow ties are cool. Well done on this awesome party! The Ood Roll is especially creepy and fantastic to me. #ThisIsHowWeRoll

    1. Thank you so much! Gavin LOVES the Eleventh Doctor, that was his Halloween costume :) The Ood Rolls were surprisingly delicious! I think all of our favorites were the fish finger cookies dipped in vanilla frosting! Thank you so much for stopping by!

  4. Ha!! I love everything about this...how fun!! My son had a Doctor Who party in Dec. and we really did the fish fingers and custard. Most of the kids ate them separately but he was determined to be just like the Doctor and eat them together! Thanks for linking up with the Homemaking Party. This one was super fun!
