Make your house FEEL cleaner with one easy step!

Happy Wednesday :) Today is halfway through week 2 of spring break. We have been having so much fun alternating between having adventures and vegging out at home!

Gavin had a mini-vacation to Mammoth Cave with my parents, we've spent two very full days at the Indianapolis Children's Museum, AND had two all-day play dates. On a side note, both play dates were with boys named Parker. It's clearly a great name!

Unfortunately, there are only so many hours in the day. As much as I want a clean house, I would much rather hang out with my kiddos. School breaks cause our house to suffer a little bit.

I've recently realized one amazing trick to making me feel like I'm not completely failing when it comes to housekeeping. It's honestly nothing new or earth shattering. Often it's the first chore we learn as children.

I know, I know! There's no way a simple thing like that could make a difference. I promise you, it does!

I used to subscribe to the school of thought that making beds was a futile chore. Why make a bed when you will just be sleeping in it again soon? The time it takes is well worth the feeling of neatness you will get every time you walk into the room!

All of this being said, I am a lazy bed maker. It takes me less than a minute to spread out my top sheet and bedspread, then straighten the pillows, and add the decorative pillows.

Try this tip sometime to see how big of a difference a made bed can have on a messy house :)

  2. I think a well made bed is a must. But I admit I don't always do it. My hubby makes a perfect bed. You can bounce a quarter off of it. I have had a similar post in draft for a while now.Instead I'll feature yours on Monday. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things blog hop. watch for your feature on Monday xo

    1. I worked at a hotel doing house keeping while I was in college, so I am pretty good at making beds but it sounds like maybe your hubby needs to do a guest post for you with bed making tips! Thanks so much for featuring this :)

  3. That is so true, my mother used to say the same thing. If the bed is made the house looks cleaner.

  4. Yep, it works for me, too! I used to never make my bed, but now, especially since I work at home, I can hardly stand for it to be un-made. Plus, if I don't make it, I'm tempted to get back in! Ha! Thanks for sharing on You're Gonna Love It! :)

  6. My Mother use to say this all the time, and I try to do it most days. I like for the beds to be made when my husband comes home from work.
