Detox Bath - Feel Better FASTER

Last Thursday morning I woke up with a heaviness in my sinus cavity that told me I probably had a cold coming on. On Friday it had only gotten worse! By Saturday, I decided that I needed to do something to try to knock it out quickly.

So, as I often do with my problems... I took to Pinterest. I was already thinking a relaxing bath sounded nice, so I was hoping to find ideas for things to add to my bath that would help. I found great suggestions from The DIY Guinea PigThe Bewitchin Kitchen and Sunshine Southern.

I knew that I definitely did NOT want to have to leave the house to buy anything, out of laziness and just plain not feeling good. So, I scavenged the house to find as many of the suggested items as I could. I figured, the more the merrier, so I added everything I could find :)

Using tips that I found on the three websites above, I made sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after my bath. I also soaked for a full 40 minutes. It sounds like a long time, but time flies when you've got a good book to read. The first 20 minutes allows your body to detox, the next 20 minutes allows your body to soak up the minerals in the water. It is also important that someone else is home, as it is common to feel light headed immediately following the bath. I felt okay, but I had my phone close just in case I needed to call Paul for assistance. Another recommendation, one that I did not take, is to soak in the bath right before going to bed. Next time I will probably try to time it that way.

After my bath I felt wonderful! The congestion did creep back in the next day, but it was short lived. Instead of getting a full blown cold, I feel completely fine now. It is definitely possible that this was a psychosomatic cure, but I have no problem with that considering that I'm feeling so much better :)

Feel free to use my recipe or create your own. Either way, I highly recommend taking a detox bath the next time you feel any ickiness creeping in!

  3. There have been several times here recently that I have used baths to help relieve flu symptoms. I've put a few of these ingredients in the bath at a time, but not all together. Definitely going to try this the next time! Thank you for sharing this!
