Free Family Movies

Our local movie theater has one of the coolest programs I know about. Every spring and fall, they offer 9 weeks of free family movies. Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 AM, you can see the selected movie completely free of charge! Recently, they changed the policy so that you need to have a Frequent Movie Goer card which provides 6 free admissions. Non-members must pay $1 per ticket. Guess how much it costs to get a FMG card? NOTHING!

This week was the first week and they were showing the movie Home. Gavin and I love that movie! Paul stayed home with Olivia which was fun for them to get some one on one time.

Goodrich Quality Theaters has locations throughout Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri and Florida. This program has been such a fun thing to take advantage of. Gavin and I first started going at a time when Paul was working on Sundays. It was a fun thing for us to do and then immediately after the movie, we would do a weekly grocery shopping trip. After Paul's schedule changed, we offered for him to start joining us, but at that point it had become a Mother/Son tradition so he didn't want to change it.

Every once in awhile Paul will come with us if he's really interested in the movie. We've also had the chance to bring along some of our favorite people. Grandparents, cousins, aunts and friends have all joined us for our Sunday morning tradition. It has been such a wonderful activity for Gavin and me to share with the people we love!

We make it a point to go every weekend that these movies are offered. Every once in awhile we are out of town and can't make it, but if we are home then we are going! Some of the movies they have shown are movies that we wouldn't necessarily choose to watch otherwise. Sometimes that opinion is validated, other times we are happily surprised. There have actually been quite a few that I was convinced I would hate that I ended up loving! I was pretty hesitant about both How to Train Your Dragon and Rise of the Guardians both of which are now on my favorites list!

I definitely recommend checking to see if you have a Goodrich Theater near you. If not, you may want to check with your local theater to see if they have any similar programs.

  1. Really cool! I don't think we have anything like that in our area, or at least I haven't heard about it! Thanks for linking up with us for Brag About It!

    1. You should check with your local theater! I randomly found out about it a few years ago and we've been going ever since. I think there are still a lot of people who have no idea ours does it :)
