DIY Yarn Wrapped Letters #TBT

Happy Throwback Thursday! While I was pregnant with Olivia, I spent way too much time looking up ideas for her nursery. One of my favorite ideas that I found were yarn wrapped letters to hang on the wall. I loved the pop of color against the wall, in addition to the texture of the yarn.

I purchased craft letters from Walmart. They were inexpensive, relatively thin, and made out of some sort of wood. I also bought glue, 2 skeins of yarn, and a few artificial flowers. Finally, I needed to get something to hang them with. I found picture hangers that were perfect.

The process was incredibly easy but somewhat time consuming. Over the course of a couple days, I worked on the letters in the evening while watching TV with the hubby. Working section by section, I applied glue to the letter, then wrap the yarn around it. I did double wrap certain sections and some of the letters took some creativity in figuring out how to get every angle covered.

Next, I flipped the letter over and figured out where I needed the wall hanger to go. I had to maneuver the teeth of the wall hanger between the yarn so it is right up against the wood, then tap it with a hammer to secure it. I also decided to add an artificial flower to a couple of the letters using a hot glue gun.

I am so happy with the way these turned out! They hang right above Olivia's crib and the color goes beautifully with her custom ruffled crib skirt!
